Our absolute favorite homesteading person is returning to Kauai! We are doing a giddy, little dance just thinking about it. Stefani Bittner, the founder of the Homestead Design Collective will be teaching a one-day-only, Mocktail Class featuring fragrant florals, bitters, and shrubs. 

Mocktails are a growing cultural trend. Whether venues like Lawai's local micro-bar, Drift, are catering to Gen Zer's choosing not to drink or the over 40's who just can't drink as they did in their 20s, it looks like mocktails are maturing beyond their Shirley Temple phase, into a more creative, refined era.  Craft bitters, fruity shrubs, and edible florals are finding their way into beautifully poured, booze-free bubbles. Bittner will be sharing her floral infusion wisdom, mad shaker skills, and signing her books. A limited number of Stefani's three books will be available for purchase. The drink menu will be posted soon! 

Light pupus will be served.

What will be taught

Age Requirement: 18 years or older

Location: The Provisions Kitchen in Lawai.

All the needed ingredients, recipes, and tools will be provided so guests may practice the techniques during class. 

Stefani Bittner, the founder of The Homestead Design Collective, a San Francisco Bay Area landscape design firm focuses on creating beautiful gardens that provide harvest.

Her team offers a unique and sophisticated approach, using organic farming with fine gardening skills, for people who want help creating aesthetically designed, organic edible gardens. Stefani is the co-author of The Beautiful Edible Garden (Ten Speed Press, 2013), Harvest (Ten Speed Press, 2017), and The Fragrant Flower Garden (Ten Speed Press, 2024).

Homestead provides design, installation, and full-service organic maintenance, harvesting, beekeeping, floristry, and composting services. Homestead recently designed and installed the new Test Gardens for Sunset Magazine at Sonoma, California's Cornerstone. Wineries including Prisoner and Robert Mondovi currently utilize Homestead's services for their potager gardens. Stefani's work has been featured in the San Francisco Chronicle, Sunset Magazine, C Magazine, Los Angeles Times, NY Times, Martha Stewart Living, Better Homes & Gardens, and Gardenista.com.

 

At Cooking Kauai, we preserve not only the abundance of fruits and vegetables but also the community and heritage of our island. Cooking Kauai Workshops are offered to our local community and island visitors looking to experience the various methods used to preserve the bounty of Kauai's agriculture. Each Provisions Workshop focuses on seasonal items, using a variety of methods of preservation.

 

Refund Policy

Due to limited seating and the upfront costs of food and its preparation, our classes are final and non-refundable.

Please think of signing up for our classes as you would purchasing a concert ticket-you can always send someone else in your place, but refunds cannot be issued.

Alternatively, you may reach out to us, and we will try our best to sell the seats on your behalf. If we do so, a future credit to a scheduled class will be issued.

Refunds will only be issued if Monkeypod Jam needs to shut down/cancel events due to unforeseen events or low participation (less than 6).

We appreciate your understanding that this is how we maintain our business and provide boutique-style service.
