Thursday, March 5th, 3-4 pm (Hawaii Standard Time)
Step into the heart of Hawai‘i’s mom-and-pop culture with this immersive, hands-on cooking class celebrating two much-loved dishes found in our island’s corner stores. Together, we’ll explore the rich history, cultural significance, and irresistible flavors that make these local favorites so iconic.
Class Menu
- Kaua‘i Style Musubi — Both Spam and Tofu Versions
- Butter Mochi — Vegetarian
What to Expect
A list of all the ingredients and tools needed will be emailed out prior to class. Recipes will be emailed the evening prior. You’ll craft each dish by hand and have enough truly Kaua‘i-style snacks to enjoy with your family and friends. In true local fashion, nobody leaves hungry.
Where You’ll Be
In your own Kitchen! We will be teaching the class from our Cooking Kauai, Provisions Kitchen in Lāwa‘i, Kauai. Once registered, you’ll receive the list of needed ingredients and a Zoom link. This is our maiden voyage, so we will be staying live after class for feedback and requesting you participate in our post-class review. We have a lot to learn and hope to grow these classes, creating an unforgettable culinary experience for those who can't make it to the islands.
Age Requirement
· Participants must be 8 years or older. Youth ages 8–15 must attend with an adult
What You’ll Take Home
We hope every guest leaves with:
· A deeper appreciation for Hawai‘i’s diverse cultures
· Connections with fellow food lovers
· The confidence to recreate these dishes on your own
Refund Policy
Because each class has limited seating and requires advance food preparation, all registrations are final and non-refundable. Think of your reservation like purchasing a concert ticket—you’re always welcome to send someone in your place if you cannot attend. Alternatively, feel free to reach out. We may be able to move you to another date.
Refunds are only offered if Monkeypod Jam must cancel due to unforeseen circumstances or low participation (fewer than six guests). Mahalo for understanding that these policies allow us to operate sustainably and continue offering boutique-style classes.
