Location: The Cabana Bar and Grill, Poiupu

What to Expect

This beginner-friendly class teaches the full process of Kinusaiga, from understanding its history and tools to creating a framed artwork using fabric without stitching. The workshop emphasizes a meditative, eco-friendly approach and is ideal for quilters, crafters, and fabric enthusiasts.

Pattern choice
Each guest selects one of two provided patterns — For this workshop we are offering the Kauai Sunset and Autumn Kabocha. These designs are prepared by the instructor, so you focus on fabric selection and placement rather than drawing or cutting the overall shape.

What the class involves

  • Beginner‑friendly: No sewing, needle, or machine required; no prior experience needed.
  • Hands‑on: Guests trace the chosen pattern onto foam, score shallow lines, and tuck fabric edges into the cuts.
  • Fabric selection: You may use your own scraps or the studio’s supply.
  • Creative freedom: While the pattern is fixed, you choose the fabrics, so your piece will be unique.
  • Step‑by‑step guidance: The instructor will walk you through the process, ensuring everyone completes a finished, framed piece to take home.

Where You’ll Be

Age Requirement

  •          Participants must be 12 years or older. Youth ages 8–17 must attend with a registered adult

What You’ll Take Home

  • By the end of the session, you’ll have a completed, framed Kinusaiga piece that reflects your chosen pattern and your personal fabric choices.

  • Refund Policy
  • Because each workshop has limited seating and requires advance preparation, all registrations are final and non-refundable. Think of your reservation like purchasing a concert ticket—you’re always welcome to send someone in your place if you cannot attend.
  • Refunds are only offered if Cooking Kauai must cancel due to unforeseen circumstances or low participation (fewer than 12 guests). Mahalo for understanding that these policies allow us to operate sustainably and continue offering boutique-style workshops.
